Website Redesign on an OMNI CMS

Introduction

In the dynamic landscape of web development and content management, a robust and adaptable Content Management System (CMS) is paramount. Our client, Cascadia College, recently entrusted us to redesign and update their website currently running on the OMNI CMS. Cascadia College is a student centric community college based out of Washington. This project involved a massive overhaul of their OMNI CMS which had been largely dormant since 2014. The transformation involved embracing decoupled architecture, upgrading the design, integrating XML and XSL, and implementing rigorous language scripting. The outcome is a testament to the boundless possibilities that emerge when innovation meets an agile CMS solution.

Exploring Decoupled Architecture

Decoupled architecture, or headless CMS, has gained significant traction in recent years. Unlike traditional CMS, it separates the frontend presentation layer from the backend content management, offering unmatched flexibility and scalability. Exemplifi recognized the potential of decoupled architecture and harnessed its capabilities for Cascadia’s website.

Enhancing the Design

One of the initial challenges we faced was to revamp the website's design, making it more captivating and user-friendly. OMNI CMS provided the essential tools to achieve this objective. With its user-friendly interface and customizable templates, our designers were able to bring the website to a modern standard

Integration of XML + XSL

To streamline content presentation and boost the website's performance, we seamlessly integrated XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and XSL (eXtensible Stylesheet Language) into the project. This potent combination facilitated structured data management and dynamic content rendering.

Adherence to Strict Language Scripting

To ensure the website's functionality and security, we had to overcome and implement rigorous language scripting practices. This approach involved utilizing modern programming languages and adhering to coding standards to minimize vulnerabilities and enhance overall performance.

The Outcome

Our efforts culminated in a remarkable transformation for the Cascadia website. The decoupled architecture provided unmatched flexibility in content delivery, the upgraded design improved user engagement, and the integration of XML and XSL enhanced content management and presentation. Rigorous language scripting fortified the website's security and performance.
